What's in it for you?

There's nothing selfish about asking this question. People often ask us, "if you're running on open source software, what are you selling?" That's a great question! To be straight with our open source fans, we're not selling any software at all. In fact, if you'd like, you can download the software that powers our system (Joomla), absolutely free! Pretty cool, eh?

We're providing a one-stop solution for small non-profits to get everything they need to run their Web sites, including hosting, support, maintenance, upgrades, customized components, etc.

We believe that the power of free and open source software shouldn't be locked up in the hands of the techies.

Below we've provided a little more details as to what's included in our pricing.


Setup

Our setup includes not just the setup of a Joomla site, but also:

  • creation of a new information architecture for your site
  • migration of content from your current site to your new Non-Profit Soapbox site
  • editing of the menuing structure
  • integration of outside systems, like Democracy In Action or CiviCRM
  • training, so you know how to manage your new site

Monthly fee

The monthly fee not only let's us eat, but also provides your organization with:

  • high-quality hosting services and well-managed servers
  • frequent upgrades and patches of the core CMS to protect against hackers and viruses
  • an informed partner who keeps tabs on upcoming features in Joomla that your organization can benefit from (heck, we oversee the official non-profit forum for Joomla!)
  • the development of cool new features for your organization (check out what the great people at Good Storm are doing, for example)
  • oh yeah...SUPPORT! Not just a forum, but a real live human being who will answer your questions, with an understanding of how non-profits work (read: not another average techie).

Custom design

Not interested in a template design? Think your current design dates your organization back to 1995? Our skilled designers will work by your side to give your Web site a great new look.

Design includes not just the creative process, but also a strategy session, two mockups, final design, and the implementation of this design into a template to be used in your new site.


Phone Support

While our email support is included in our monthly fees, some organizations might need someone just a phone call away to talk them through their issues. Some low-cost providers will say phone support is included, and put you on hold for 3 hours (or just not answer their phones). Then, when you finally get on the phone with someone, they'll transfer you to someone else that doesn't know how to solve your problem.

With our phone support, we're honest about what you'll get. Phone support is a premium, it's something that not everyone will need, but for those that do want it, it's got to be good. So, to make sure we're able to provide high-quality technical support team to answer you questions in person, we charge extra per month for this service. Better this than have you stuck on hold for hours.
